Our work in the community

The Simon Center provides a positive sense of community, which supports the well-being of the center’s children, families and staff. The center provides warm, responsive and caring relationships that foster feelings of security. The center promotes a sense of belonging, where all feel included and valued.

In the Local Community

The Simon Center family can be seen outside the center. The center organizes community playdates at local parks, allowing children and parents to meet outside of the school. The center is also an annual participant in the Reston Baby Expo. We are happy to answer your questions about care options that we offer to new parents.

Center Fundraisers

The Robert E. Simon, Jr. Children’s Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations and sponsorships may be tax deductible. Please consult your tax professional for deduction advice regarding your donation or sponsorship. There are several opportunities to support the Center. Visit our Parent Portal for more information.

Center Family

While our families are not required to volunteer hours to the center, there are many opportunities to become more involved. Formal opportunities include serving as a member of our parent-led board of directors or assisting with our annual silent auction. Less formal opportunities include reading to your child’s class, supporting monthly fundraising events, assisting the center with your unique talents and countless other ways.

Center Giving Back

The Simon Center supports the local community. The center works to identify initiatives where the center family can give back. Some past and current efforts include a food drive for the Herndon-Reston FISH program, trike-a-thon supporting St. Jude Children’s Hospital and sponsorship of a local adopt-a-highway.
