Enhanced Health and Safety Procedures

As we get ready to welcome back our children on Monday 18 May, you will see several enhanced health and safety practices.

1) Drop-off policies and procedures will be different.
We will have staff meet each family at the main Center entrance. Staff will then take the children to their assigned groups. In addition, the supervisor will take on the responsibility of signing your child in and out each day. These changes will limit the number of adults coming into our space.

2) An enhanced daily health observation of each child.
For health and safety all staff are trained in doing what we call a “door check”. This consists of the staff checking each child at drop off for signs of illness, from head to toe. This standard practice helps keep sick children from attending and lessens the spread of illnesses within the Center.

3) Different ways to communicate pertinent information with teaching staff.
For parents who fill out the My Day forms for infants and toddlers, we can make the form available for you to complete at home.

4) Limiting hours of operation to 8 AM to 5 PM, MON-FRI.
To start, we will continue with the shortened day schedule that we began in March. Our hope is to be back to normal hours of operation as soon possible.

5) Cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting too.
To add to our regular cleaning and sanitation procedures, staff will now do disinfecting practices several times a day (early morning, mid-day, and late afternoon). The focus will be on “high-touch” areas… light switches, door code panels, pencils and pens, door and cabinet handles, bathroom surfaces, etc. We will increase the supervision of hand washing and reinforce the importance of frequent hand washing with the children age-appropriate activities.

Thank you in advance for your continued support and participation in keeping the Simon Center community healthy and safe. If you have any questions please reach out to us by phone or email.
