Our Top 3 Indoor Activities for Summer

The weather is warming, and summertime is calling! While classes are ending and things are opening back up, there’s plenty of fun summer activities for families to enjoy. While we are big0-time proponents of outdoor time, sometimes heat, rain and other not-so-fun weather makes staying indoors a necessity. The great news is there’s still plenty to do indoors – and tons of ways to make it fun!

If the weather forces you in – or if your child is maybe a bit more inclined to the great indoors, here are three ideas for them to spend either alone or with loved ones this summer.

MAKESHIFT OBSTACLE COURSE

While this also applies to the backyard, creating your own obstacle course within a safe indoor space can be a great way to get the mind AND body moving. Children could make use of cushions, blankets (blanket fort, anyone?!) and use their imagination. Does anybody else remember “The Floor Is Lava?”

MOVIE NIGHT

Still a little hesitant about heading back to movie theatres? Bring the movies to your own house, or -better yet- to the couch. Make the occasion special by setting up some fairy lights, and even getting some popcorn and special occasion candy. If your child is creative, help them set up a movie fort! Watching a movie doesn’t have to be difficult (or expensive!)

BAKING BAKING BAKING

Does your child love to get a little messy? Organized mess never hurt anybody. While baking definitely became popular last year, baking with friends and family NEVER goes out of style. Making fun summer treats is an easy, fun, and creative way to pass the time indoors.

Everyone is super excited to be getting outside again, but there’s no harm in making the indoors every bit as fun. Happy summer!
