Each child is unique. Our child care philosophy accommodates the developmental stages of every child. The center respects each individual and allows for flexibility and choice. Children learn best through organized and free play. We promote and support active, developmental learning through play. We welcome diversity and will support the acquisition of the home language while teaching English in the classroom.
The Robert E. Simon, Jr. Children’s Center is designed to meet the emotional, social, physical, and intellectual needs of children in a safe, child-oriented environment. The center is a non-profit corporation created to meet the child care needs of the community.
The Robert E. Simon, Jr. Children's Center opened in January 1990 as part of the Reston Area Child Care Consortium, a consortium of employers, community residents, parents, educators, and varied professionals concerned about the child care needs in our community. The center is licensed by the state of Virginia, and has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) since August 2000.

The Board of Directors sets policy, oversees administration, and establishes and monitors the corporation’s finances.
